New Hope For
Natural Parks
At the end of the Council meeting Thursday evening March 10, the Village Manager announced that he had heard from the lobbyist, and the lobbyist had advised the Village that the Florida legislature denied the mayor's request for $10,000,000 for the sports athletics complex proposal for Tequesta Park.
This is a very hopeful outcome for the health of the land and water in our region, for the residents of this village, and also for the fiscal health of Tequesta. This outcome now gives us the opportunity to focus on creating more natural parks and space in the village. Natural parks are a pure win for the municipality and for residents at this point: they provide numerous substantial benefits to everyone and no downside. (See The Superiority of Natural Parks.)
Also, in case you missed it: Tequesta has a new mayor and a new Councilman. Molly Young is now at the helm and Mr Aaron Johnson has joined the Council. Congratulations to Mrs Young and Mr Johnson.
